What Name Tags For Employees Do

By Dorothy Myers

Name tags are essential tools for marketing in the contemporary world. Numerous organizations have their staff wearing these badges so that they can attract prospective clients during events. In most corporate events, networking is highly dependent on participating parties identifying each other and communicating. These two aspects of marketing are now very sophisticated, even though a while back they were simple tools.

It is routine that a name tag contains the name of the individual putting it on. However, name tags for employees may also have additional information concerning the wearer, the event and the corporation represented by the wearer. It may also contain position of the wearer. This helps anyone that comes in contact with the wearer to know the relevant information about the individual by just taking a glance at the badge.

These badges only become effective when they are designed properly. Good design can be achieved through using appropriate font size and type. Font types vary in nature, some are easily readable whereas others need the reader to use more effort to be able to read them. At the same time, small fonts may be completely impossible to read for some people.

Even though monochrome badges are trouble free to draft and economical to purchase, they are relatively ineffective when compared to multi-colored ones. Multi-colored badges display better information such as corporate logos, event description and job title. Using multiple colors enables the use of solid colors thus eases identification.

In conferences, badges are usually placed inside plastic sleeves to provide protection against wear and tear that may happen to them. Also, such cards are usually installed with QR codes or barcodes for various purposes such as granting wearers access to various facilities. As such, it is important to ensure that the plastic sleeves in use are capable of allowing the barcodes or QR codes to be scanned without a problem. One should always have this feature tested first.

Amongst other things, the durability of the badge is always very crucial. Durability ensures that they can be used regularly in multiple events. Again, some events do last for several days or weeks before they end. Hence, the card must be manufactured using heavy vinyl. However, thin vinyl tags are good enough when events are meant to last for a day or so.

Bulk purchases make it possible to save some money on the budget. For example, one should purchase 500 cards instead of just buying 50 cards or lanyards, so that the remaining cards or lanyards can be kept for future use. By so doing, one realizes a lot of savings for their business from the bulk purchases.

Generally, a badge is usually 4 inches long and 3 inches wide. Some people design their cards too large or too small. Cards that are too large appear out of place while cards that are too small will be inefficient in the purpose for which they were designed.
